I am a first year student going into second year fall winter 2011/2012. I selected my majors got accepted into all but one. When I found out I went and spoke to an adviser to ask why I wasn't accepted. They eventually told me it was a mistake on their part and said that they will open up a seat for me.

Now I am now waiting for this spot to open up. Does anyone know the process? Do I have to login SOLAR and click "restart"? How long does it usually take for it to open up? Who opens up the seat?

I hope someone can help me with this situation. I am just worrying because the last day for second years to be on SOLAR is this Wednesday (22nd of June) and I feel that if I don't select my courses now with everyone when it comes down to selecting core class and tutorials, I might have lots of conflicts.

If it was a mistake and you want to be in that program, it should technically reset, I suppose, so you'd have to go through program selection again. Have you tried logging into SOLAR?

Yes, I have tried logging in again although my seven day time allowed on SOLAR is now expired so I can't access it no more.

So now I'm stuck and been on hold from the registers office for 35 minutes and counting.

Any other thoughts?

Nah, I'm kidding. Um...don't worry about not getting into core classes - since they're required, you can email the advisor etc. and they will DEFINITELY open up a seat for you. As for when they open up a seat for you...it depends on how long ago you asked them. If it was a couple days ago, I'd assume it should have opened up. However, if you've already made selections for another program, perhaps they'll have to do something from that end...

Weird :/, how can they make a mistake like that :@. But anyway, I don't think SOLAR would open up for you anytime before July 11th, but then your seat would be available then and you would register for courses again. Don't worry about required courses, it's electives where you might have to keep trying with.

You're very welcome. Oh, and just in case you're worried - I still haven't got my electives, either. Everything was full, and I'm going to try on the 11th of July, now.
