Smoke detector in our rooms?
Do we have to bring our smoke dectectors from home, or will it be there in our dorm?

This is another question, completely random, but will the kitchen in each floor (Im in brandon btw) have liquid soap or sponges..so random

I'm pretty sure fire code requires residences to have a sophisticated system of smoke detectors but I haven't lived in res at Mac so I can't say for sure.

Logic would dictate that you don't have to bring a smoke detector.

i work with facility services so I know that YES the residences have a very sophisticated alarm system.. don't worry about that at all!

and as for soap and sponges, they aren't provided so bring your own (or hope someone else on your floor brings some and is willing to share!)

Yep, smoke detectors (and in many cases heat detectors, too) in all rooms. Just a word of advice - if you accidentally cause some smoke in your room somehow, DO NOT open the door to air it out - if the smoke detector goes off in your room, it doesn't set off the alarm in the entire building. If it goes off in the hallway (or common room), it does. So try not to burn your popcorn :p

Last year someone set off the smoke detector in their room because apparently they were throwing things at it. :S It was so loud for the longest time. Word of advice - don't purposely try to hit the smoke detector.

Lmao, how bored do you have to be to start throwing things at a smoke detector?

Last year, someone set off the smoke detector in their room because they built a stripper pole, and it fell over, whacking the detector on the way down. Word of advice: stripper poles do NOT belong in res
