Want to get involved? Want to meet new people and be a leader? Want to cheer, be obnoxious, and help win the faculty cup.. again? Well then being a Social Science Rep for Frosh Week 2010 is the right thing for you! If you have friends who are not part of Soc Sci - well don't worry - they can apply with you!

Fill out the online form at http://spreadsheets.google.c om/vie...drR m9kWGc6MA
OR

Come down to KTH 101A (in the lobby) to pick up the application form to be a rep for Welcome Week 2010. Forms can be picked up on the door at 12pm Monday Feb. 22 and need to be back the latest by Monday March 8th.

So you must be wondering: What about Interviews and auditions? Pfff.. We don't have them! Instead much less awkward short meetings or a group orientation will be scheduled during and after the deadline to meet each other.

Any other questions please contact: [email protected] mail.com
http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=3043112 01138
I would highly encourage everyone reading this to apply, it is a truly awesome experience and you don't necessarily need to be naturally loud and crazy to apply, there is room for the quieter more empathetic reps as well! Plus its a week before classes start, so no excuses.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to post them up here! I was a rep in 09 so should be able to answer most of them!
p.s: For the Female Crowd out there, The Co-Planner is Kieran Alkerton!

Im new to soc sci, so a couple of questions...

I recently switched from eng to soc sci....all I can say is our rep application process for WW reps in eng was a little "different". So I was just wondering, other than filling out the form are there any other steps you need to do to become a rep in soc sci?

Also, I'm not as loud and crazy as some of the reps out there, but I still like to have fun, get involved, and meet new people. I know its a pretty subjective question but do you think, even if Im not crazy outgoing, I'd still be a good fit as a soc sci rep?

Not that I wouldn't want an opportunity to get out of my shell, especially since I'm new to soc sci and want to meet everyone, but it'd be nice to know there is more to it than just being loud and obnoxious lol

Thanks!

well, Huzaifa did say that being a rep isn't all about being loud and obnoxious.
So a shy and quiet-ish person is alright, tooo.

OP also said thatt instead of auditions/interviews, there will be " much less awkward short meetings or a group orientation" lmao.

read everything above, tells you everything you need to know.

and Huzaifa, I am so sorry, I thought you were female for the longest time. D:

You guys would both make awesome reps, I hope you get it!

You definitely don't need to be the most outgoing person to be a good rep. While spirited reps who can get everyone pumped are awesome, you also need slightly less threatening people who can connect better with first years on a one-to-one basis.

Besides, most people end up a lot more outgoing once they actually get a rep suit on. Some of the quietest people you'll meet in real life are the loudest reps you could imagine.

Don't worry. From what I know so far, we have some super solid returning reps who will definitely help set the tone and integrate a lot of new people into the team. One thing I see is that there are a LOT of interested first and second year students repping for the first time, which is awesome.

I've repped Maroons for 3 years, including being Spirit Leader, but this year decided to try out Soc Sci. The people on the team are really awesome, and its where I met people like Kieran, who are now really good friends.

I built my rep team (when I was planner) on positive leadership, and it led to good things, and I feel like the Soc Sci planners last year, and the two this year are very much the same.

There are some experienced reps on the team who will definitely help you acclimatize. In fact, you have my personal promise to help you get settled, meet new people and be the best reps you can.

(Plus we're winning back to back WW Cups)

 What THE??

I hate you. :(

How/Why did you come to that assumption if I may ask? I thought I represented everything that a stereotypical opinionated, radical marxist, male chauvinist sounds like :S

Maybe I should start inserting sexist undertones in my future posts or maybe sound like a "bro"? o_0?

p.s: J-Met, Ditto what Rohan said.

My dream has always been to be a rep and create a Rogue Tribe of first years. We'd hide in cootes and be drunk bandit savages. Tribal zen deer mystics of pyramid quad! - making swoop attacks with robin hood prowess. We'd do a lot of work with triangles and plot the fastest route to Wendy's/lcbo/stars. Inside our own private Kingdom! <3 Land of heroes!
