STATS 1L03 to prepare for HTH SCI 2A03?
Hey guys,

I'm going to be in my first year in Health Sciences in September.

I know that in 2nd year Health Sciences, HTH SCI 2A03 is mandatory, which is statistics. However, I never took Grade 12 Data Management. So I'm just wondering if it would be necessary to take STATS 1L03 to prepare for it.

Anyone knows if these 2 courses are similar/related?
Is HTH SCI 2A03 totally easy to pick up?

Thanks a lot!

HTH SCI 2A03 does not assume any prior stats knowledge. Take STATS 1L03 if you'd like, but by no means is it necessary.

Hope this helps!

Of course! Post any more questions that you have, and I (and others) will do what we can to help.

Thank you so much!!!
I'm just deciding between MATH 1A03 and 1LS3. Since I want to apply for med school in the future, I'll need a full year of physics. So I'll need to take PHYSICS 1BB3.

I heard 1A03 helps more since it gets into more depth with integrations. But 1LS3 is definitely a lot easier and might give me a higher mark. Since 1LS3 is easier, I'm thinking that maybe I can have more time doing other stuff like the extracurricular activities or to study for the harder courses that I'll be taking.

I took both advanced functions and calculus in high school and did okay.
I'm not planning to take further math courses. (Except the one year calculus required by most med schools)

Do you have any suggestions as to which one to take?

Thank you~~

If you need to take a full year of math, I recommend 1A03 instead of 1LS3. Two reasons:

1. 1A03 is mainly theory and proofs while 1LS3 is application based. This means you actually cover more in 1A03 than in 1LS3.

2. 1AA3 is mainly theory and proofs, so if you took 1A03 then you already have a good idea of how the course is like.

Thank you!!
By application based... do you mean that the majority of that course is problem solving while 1A03 has more proofs to do?
I might take MATH 1LT3 instead of 1AA3 next year.

Oh right, I keep on forgetting about that new math course. You have more option then. I would just make sure with each professional school that the math courses you want to take are eligible.

Right, professional schools! Um... Most of those that I looked into require a year of Calculus. They didn't specify whether it's Calculus for science or Calculus for life science. So I hope/think MATH 1LS3 and MATH 1LT3 would do it...

Don't hope, just send them an e-mail.
