If your GPA is a 3.00 after first year engineering, you can take summer school courses and try to bring up your GPA to a 4.00.
You have to work hard in the summer, because they are going to count both grades. What I mean is, let's say you took 37 units in first year engineering, if your GPA is between a 3 and a 4, you can take summer school....so lets say you take 2 courses in the summer...after you take them, they will calculate your GPA based on 37+3+3 = 43 units...that's why try taking courses that you know you will do good at, to boost your GPA.
If your GPA once your done first year engineering is between a 3 and a 4 you WILL not be kicked out of school and you will have an option of repeating some courses (as stated above) to raise your overall GPA.
Now if, after doing summer school (say both terms) your gpa is still between a 3 and a 4, you have the option to reinstate/transfer into b.tech 1...if you want to get back into engineering after b.tech 1 you have to work hard in b.tech and get good grades to transfer/reinstate into engineering.
Hopefully that clarify things up.
