well you could have bought your books on account at the titles book store (which goes into your student account balance). then you could have gone into the meal plan office in the commons building asking them to take money out of the flex/freedom account and which they will also put into your student account. this way you replenish your student account back to zero.

Or you can be like me and save some of your meal plan money for second year when you have to cook almost all of your food

But make sure to spend all of the basic portion by the end of second term.

what i did last yr was i cashout all my flex$ and pay books using credit card
flex$ is like cash, mac's charging tax for it (unlike the fix$), so there really is no point leaving it in your meal card

You're allowed to withdraw money from your flex/freedom account. Your flex account still saves you the 13% tax, your freedom only saves you 5% but you can also use it for off-campus purchases.

I have a question about the freedom account also. Can you use the money in your freedom account to pay at tiles bookstore or is it only restricted for food purchases?

You can only use your meal plan to buy food. (Although I think you can use freedom to buy non-food items in mini-mac but I'm not entirely sure).

I have a question. Yesterday, I used my student ID card to buy some lab notebooks from titles. I was told that the student ID card can be used as a credit card. As long as I pay back within 30 days, I will not be charged with any interest.

My question is, how do I pay it back? through where?

Thanks

Go to your student account on mugsi, where you went to pay tuition (or i did anyways) and then pay it there. Thats how i got all of my textbooks first year since i dont think i had $800 in my debit account at the time while i was in line...
