Suggest Good Books
Hey avid readers of macinsiders,
The winter break is approaching and I need a good book to read when its snowing outside and I have my cup of hot chocolate and curling up on my warm sofa.
So ...
suggest away !!!
I like books of the mystery/political/sci-fi/non-fiction (auto/biographies of people or events) etc

O.EM.GEE
Best book evar???
Twilight!!!!!1!!
/sarcasm
Read some classic novels, like Charles Dickens' David Copperfield or Great Expectations. You could even read A Christmas Carol, thats a great holiday book even if you do not celebrate Christmas.Don Quixote is great, but very long.
If you haven't already you could read Dan Brown books, they are always entertaining.
I would also suggest buying some comics - not necessarily comics as in Batman and Superman but more like Calvin and Hobbes, Far Side Gallery etc. Personally those are my two favourite comic strips (Calvin and Hobbes FTW)
I'm currently reading Gywne Dyer books, they are very good political books, at least thats what I think. Rick Mercer's book is also quite funny. I enjoyed reading that over the break last year.

Anything by Nick Hornby, he is an absolutely amazing writer. I'd recommend A Long Way Down, its my personal favourite of his.
Chuck Palahniuk is also a great writer, although his books can be a bit... intense. He's known for people fainting at his book readings. Choke or Rant would be my recommendation, they're relatively tame for him and a great place to start.
EDIT: I took out the link to the story that tends to inspire the faintings, it probably wouldn't be MacInsiders appropriate. Anyone who wants to read the story can search "Guts Chuck Palahniuk". Read at your own risk, etc.

Chuck Palahniuk is my favourite! My top 3 are probably Choke, Survivor and Invisible Monsters.
Guts was certainly interesting...althoug h Haunted isn't one of my favourites by him.
I also love Douglas Coupland. I'd recommend The Gum Thief, Generation X or JPod

Off the top of my head...I read too much but these are some of the ones I love re-reading
Neverwhere - Neil Gaiman (edit: anything by Neil Gaiman is good)
The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho
Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur Golden (better than the movie!)
If you like fantasy the Kushiel series by Jaqueline Carey is good too
Non fiction: Guns, Germs and Steel - Jared Diamond
