The Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzerald - Mills 4th floor: PS 3511 .I9 T5

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway- PS 3515 .E37 O515

** The Razor's Edge by W. Sommorset Maghaum- PR 6025 .A86R3 2003 **

Island by Aldous Huxley- located in OPRIG office, 2nd floor MUSC

I've taken out these books from the library in the past year and I recommend reading one of them during the break and the rest when you get back! They are all great.

I'll second the Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures by Vincent Lam - amazing novel.

In the vein of suggesting Asian-themed novels, The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy is one of my favourites, and deals with Chinese immigrants to Canada before and during World War II.

The Aeneid, if you're up for some serious metaphor-chewing.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy - a really good post-apocalyptic novel.

Dune by Frank Herbert; hurray for sci-fi!

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K Dick.....again, three cheers for sci-fi! (and it's a mind-blowing read)

For non-fiction, I'd say War by Gwynne Dyer. Very interesting read (oh, and anything by Jared Diamond as well. Collapse and Guns, Germs and Steel are quite good)

Really? I love reading, and I just could not get into this book. Maybe something a little less depressing for the holiday season. Here is a summary of that book "The road was grey, and it was dark, and they walked on the road."

No offence to people who like that book but thats my opinion, I guess it depends on what style books you like.

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes was really good.

Ishmael by Daniel Quinn....very eye opening.

Anything by Stephen King, especially the Stand, Hearts in Atlantis, and the Tommyknockers

Kurt Vonnegut is also excellent. I wasn't a huge fan of Slaughterhouse Five, but Mother Night and Cat's cradle were really good.

Despite his failure among most critics I still find most of what Dan Brown writes enjoyable.

Im reading Freakonomics at the moment, its pretty interesting.
