Summer courses at another university and med school.
Hi,
I was looking into maybe taking some summer courses at Uoft or York, because I live in toronto and then I'd get to stay home during the summer. I was told that the usual case with these courses is that they are judged on a pass/fail basis with no mark assigned. They get me the credit but no mark, so the mark will not factor into my average. What I was wondering was if anyone knows if that is detrimental to possible future med school application? Like, would not having the mark for a required pre-requisite, or the knowledge that I took courses at another university, affect how my application is looked at? Even cause elimination of the application?
I'd appreciate input if any of you have any knowledge on this. I want to stay at home but not really mess up my credits in the process lol.
Thanks in advance.

No, it wouldn't affect your application because as any grad school or professional school, they ask for ALL transcripts from all schools you've attended. So besides your McMaster transcript, you would have to provide them with a transcript from UT/York for all the courses you took there.

Oh Alright, so while McMaster will only treat it as a credit towards the completion of my undergraduate degree, Med schools will be able to visualize the marks of all the courses, despite university?

Summer school courses are not considered in your calculation of GPA at most med schools in Canada: there are a few exceptions - McMaster I know of hand does.
American schools do too. But basically these courses can count as pre-reqs.
