You should also contact your faculty to make sure they will let you take it. If it's just an elective course that doesn't go towards your degree (the 120 credits for most degrees) then I would say chances are 99%. I e-mailed my faculty (science) about that a couple months ago. But I would still e-mail them if that's the case. Not sure about if the course is required or goes towards your degree as I didn't inquire about that.
Edit: Just thought of something else. You still need to fill out all the forms and make sure the university or you send the transcript directly to your FACULTY. This is to make sure the course will show up in your McMaster transcript. But from what I know, professional schools (at least the waterloo school of optometry) will pull out your transcript directly from the school you took the course in summer from. So I don't think you have to send the transcript to McMaster if you aren't taking the course for your degree. Once again, I would suggest contacting professioinal and graduate schools to inquire if they pull the transcript for the school you took the course in summer from.
