Theres a summer hsr pass I think, but its a bit more expensive, but still cheaper than regular people.

Damn, seriously?!

Every person I knew who took summer school had their course in the evening. =/
My bad!!!

and our passes don't work in the summer, but COMPASS does offer some sort of cheaper discount thingiee for the 4 months. It's obviously not as good as what we get during school, but it's better than nothing!

what about housing? if you take two courses during a summer term, would they give you money to rent a place?

You will only get OSAP if you are taking a full course load during the summer. Otherwise the government expects you to have a part time job.

As for the HSR summer pass, don't bother with it as it's really expensive. I just always bought bus tickets during the summer. You can buy 10 adult bus tickets for 20$ at shopper's drug mart (or some convenience store, but they might sell it for a bit higher).

Alot of people don't know about this because they're used to the busing system in toronto (TTC) but the HSR transfer system only has a time restriction.

This means that you can take the bus IN ANY DIRECTION (even back and forth) before the transfer expires. This is usually more than enough time for most people to do their back and forth trips for simple things ie. the groceries, or w/e. So you can save tickets via doing that.

Unless you plan to take the bus ALOT during the summer, don't bother with the pass. Tickets are pretty cheap. I took it almost every day.

I am quite sure OSAP won't cover the cost of residence. Residence during the summer is pretty damn expensive. I bought the 10-ticket passes from GO to commute to and from Toronto. OSAP gave me enough money to cover the cost of the passes that I bought.
