Summer School at UTSC
So right now I'm taking physics at UTSC and for UoT, anything about an 85% is considered a 4.0. So let's say I get an 88% at the end of the year, would mac count that as an 11 or a 12?

McMaster won't count the grade at all. They'll only record whether you passed or failed, and the mark will not be part of your cumulative GPA.

But when I show my marks to med schools, what will it say? Physics is a requirement for American med schools so I assume the mark will show

Yep, sadly, it won't show up as a grade. It'll just indicate that you've completed the course.

Maybe you can get a transcript from UofT or something.

Mac asks for a transcript anyway, to ensure completion. You can do that for grad school and whatnot, but even with a transcript, Mac will still show just a Pass/Fail notation.

When you apply to any professional or graduate school, you have to send transcripts from every university you've attended.

Dont you have to sumbit a transcript for every institution you have attended or taken a course at anyways? If thats the case, then it should be a 4.00 considering that 88 is equivalent to 4.00 at uft and that is were the course was taken

Yes,you'll have to request the transcript separately to be sent to the school from UTSC. So yes, they'll be able to see you mark then.

I'm getting mixed answers here

So when I ask for a transcript, will Mac show it as a Pass/Fail or a mark?

McMaster will show it as a Pass/Fail but UTSC will show it normally.

I think in the US, each school determines the GPA according to their own percentage conversion. So an 85+ might not be a 4 for them. It depends from school to school. Also, for OMSAS conversion, here's the link: http://www.ouac.on.ca/docs/omsas/c_omsas_b.pdf

I'm pretty sure it would be considered a 4.0 because you would send your UTSC transcript, on which you would have a 4.0.

Most schools in the US let aamcas do there conversions(just like we use omsas), and most of the time your GPA ends up being higher.
