Lol, that is hilarious. Isn't it illegal to copy the BBC's coding textes though?

It definitively is a joke, just look at the URL. I'm pretty sure they copied the codes for the sidebar, header and what not since they all link to the bbc website, but clearly the url isn't the same for that page as bbc.

Is it weird that I'm not even slightly worried about this pandemic?

Nope.
The flu (i.e. the normal influenza that goes around every year) is technically also a pandemic.
It's just the media trying to make money.

Yeah, I figure it's only a matter of time until the normal influenza mutates into a super flu.

I think the only reason some people are worried is because it is a new strain.

I agree. After all, we can "see into the future" by looking at the circulation of flu strains in asia and then "guess" which one will hit Canada and have a vaccine for it. So we technically have an advantage over the "normal" flu. However, with swine flu, we had no idea it was coming and thus have to wait out for the creation of a vaccine which I heard somewhere it could take 6 months.

Influenza is constantly changing, though. That's why the vaccine isn't effective a lot of the time: it's the WHO trying to guesstimate which strain of flu is going to be the most serious each year. If they're wrong (and they often are) we have no immunity to the bug that is going around.

Interestingly enough, strains of flu that appear in Asia then appear almost half a year later in north america, as there seems to be a chain of direction of the flu, it's all in a journal i read in first year bio (haha, those labs were useful for atleast one thing) and so the fact that its so close to home with no real warning or protection is whats surprising.
I just with Prestige Ameritech were a publicly traded company, then I'd be happy, I guess Roche will have to do

Swine Flu is officially a pandemic according to WHO: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...0gOYQD98OJ9K80
Just a little bit of math for all of you:
Number of cases in US, Europe, Australia and South America is close to 30 000.
The population of the United States alone is 300 million. The total number of cases in all of those nations is far less than 1%...

Wow, interesting... so the Swine Flu transmits between humans now? How long has it been since the flu started?
