Switching into Linguistics in 3rd year?
Hello all!

I'm in my 2nd year of Classics at the moment, and I absolutely love it, but I was wondering if it would be possible to start up a double major with Classics and Linguistics (with a minor in Italian)? I realize that it's too late to start my first year linguistics, so I'd have to wait till my 3rd year, but I was specifically wondering if there would be any way that I could finish it with only one extra year? I've tried figuring it out, but without knowing what courses will be offered I'm just incredibly confused :( Would I have to settle with a major in only linguistics and a minor in classics?

Thanks for any help at all,

Rachel

Go through that first
Look at the requirements.
Both Classics and Linguistics offer a Combined Honours in another Program

Look at the courses you need to do.
It might be difficult to do them all in 4 years since you're changing half-way through. Likely, you will need to take a 5th year.
That is assuming you only take 30 units from Sept-Apr. You can always take Summer courses and take more than 30 units Sept-Apr.

If you haven't taken any linguistics by this point then no, you can't do it in a year. If you have taken some it is possible; but it depends on course availability.

You might be able to do a minor in a year, though.
