I once had about 1/3 of that speed of internet at Thode.

MacConnect is falling behind.

We have the worst internet speeds in the world now at a terrible price. I believe we ranked 13th out of 20.

At South Korea or France (not sure which), you get triple as fast for only $40 a month.

We are definitely lagging behind.

If we're ranked 13 out of 20, we don't have the worst speeds in the world...

Also, MacConnect is free.

Not really. Tuition and fees, remember?

MacConnect in Thode basement can be pitiful. Can't say much about other places.

I can barely get connections in health sciences library. Mills is good if you're on the right side of the building (i.e. 3rd floor laptop room). If you're on the left side it's terrible. :|

I think the problem is MacConnect, there is some sort of bottleneck. When I am hooked directly into the ABB network the speeds are wonderful (You have to get your MAC address from you network card added to the router table.) Of course this might be a different connection to the internet all together...

From 2nd floor Thode. Hey, that's slightly better than what I get at home... especially for upload.

Edit: I ran the test again immediately after posting, LOL:

ugh. I get 14 or so at home. My brother pays $15.00 a month for Internet in New York ($29.95, no tax, shares with his roommate) and it's about 16 MB/s.

Lolsies, thats pretty much equivalent to dial up, it probably took you around 3 minutes to get to the website and run the test.

Given that the libraries annually receive dozens of millions of dollars to run it's absolutely absurd that they spend so little on WiFi. In the afternoon especially there is not one place on campus that I can think of that offers decent wifi speeds.
Thode 2nd floor from noon-8pm is slower than dial up!

How is internet not treated as a necessity by the university? I've been to libraries in York and UofT (StG and SC) where I connected using my friends' IDs and the internet was never slow, even during peak hours.
