And also, why is it taking so long for it to completely load the homepage?

Textbooks don't really change from edition to edition, so it doesn't really matter. Besides, your prof will tell you what textbook to get when you go to your first class.

You can google the ISBN and usually amazon or another textbook website will show up, and from that you can find out what edition it is.

the only good thing about this updated version is, you can select your books conveniently from a list and it calculates the total cost for you (including taxes)

Oh wow, I was on the old site this morning. Just checked out the new one and its waaaay better. Theres a link right to the classified section woot! Also if you click the link for the textbook more info pops up with fields such as Edition. Its just not filled in yet for every single one.

Yes, people are...It's not generally recommended, but you can return them for a full refund before Sept 25 as long as you haven't opened it (although if it's used, they can't really tell ).

If you don't buy your textbook early (or ASAP), the nicer used textbook or even the bad ones may be sold out and you'll be forced to pay extra.

Also remember, you don't have to buy your books from titles: http://www.macinsiders.com/showthrea...4.html?t=30624

That's a terrible blanket statement to make. It is fairly common for textbook to have additions and deletions of entire chapters over the course of a single edition.

In order for them to come out with a new edition, at least 10% of the book must be changed. That can be changing chapter titles or moving chapters around, or actually changing substantial information. There is very little difference most of the time, but depending on the publisher and how often they come out with a new edition, the difference could be more substantial.
