Sounds like a good idea. thanks!

The study guides aren't useful. You're better off taking the time to make notes on each chapter or something.

That makes sense, thanks .
What exactly is it about anyway. I hope it's not like "Here's how you study for Bio" type of thing =/

Sorry about all the questions

Its basically just a summary of each topic within each chapter with accompanying "check your understanding" questions.

Anyone know whether the first version of the physics 1B03 textbook will be valid this year? The second version costs a lot...

I'm pretty sure they have those in the books too.

E-mail the professor, your professor is the one who decides on what books to use. So no one will know except him/her.

I found the bio books last year to be very useful. If you are taking both bios (1A03, 1M03) then you should buy the package (Vol 1, 2 and a writing guide).

and also, what were the labs in BIO1A03 and 1M03 about?
were they dry labs?

Bio 1A03 was mostly trying to get you to learn basic lab techniques like pipetting.

1M03/1AA3 had a lot of rooms with different creatures and you'd have to take notes on them =p

I read the book, you don't need to but it helps a lot.

1M03 Labs: They weren't really "labs", more like tutorials where you learned a lot of things about journals, how to summarize properly. There was one PBL which was worth a lot.

1A03 Labs: Paper Chromatography of proteins, figuring out what an unknown protein is. Microscope stuff such as measuring, drawing. Killing bacteria, plating on agar, testing resistance. DNA analysis, gel electrophoresis.

I'm not sure how it will be this year but last year 1M03 was all dry labs and 1A03 wasn't. 1A03 had labs which required skills such as pipetting, dilutions and using the microscope to name a few.

Sorry I got the course codes mixed up. 1A03 is the one with pipetting.
