What are the TextBooks for these courses?
Hello,

I am getting really nervous; I've been checking the book store since august and they still do not have textbook listings for the fall/winter session. I plan to get all of my textbooks second hand and if not, then online pdfs, so I need the titles for the textbooks for the following courses;

CHEM 1A03
PHYSICS 1B03
MATH 1A03
BIOLOGY 1M03
PSYCH 1X03

So, does anyone know the book titles for these courses? The help is much appreciated!

Textbook list comes out Aug. 19 (as displayed on the bookstore website...), and no one knows for sure what textbook will be used ... there may be a new version out, etc.

Check bookstore.mcmaster. ca on the 19th, and click on "Textbook Search"

Also it's way too early for you to be stressing about textbooks. You should wait until the first class to hear what the prof has to say - you might not end up needing a lot of the books, even if they're listed as "required" on the book list.

Since those are very popular/required courses that are fairly huge, you are likely to get textbooks second hand for all of them unless a new edition is published. However, before that, I recommend waiting until your first class. Your professor will usually state whether old texts are acceptable, or how often the text will be relied upon.

They might not respond to a 1000 emails from a 1000 first years about which edition is best because that may be answered in class.

I would not stress out about purchasing textbooks right now. Enjoy your last few weeks of summer, and start studying when school begins. It's easy to burn yourself out in first year by stressing out too much about the workload, which is completely manageable and feasible if you allocate your time carefully and focus when you are studying.

Unless your summer is super boring and/or you really enjoy reading scientific texts for fun / you really need the extra time, then I would not recommend purchasing things early and reading them too early because you might be well ahead of the class and thus not find the lectures useful, but may end up missing important points that your text readings did not cover.
