But then, why didn't the physics labs appear on my mock timetable?

Edit: Just found it, sorry.

Just remember that you won't be able to sign up for lab sections/tutorial sections/cores until SOLAR re-opens in August. So while it's nice to have everything set for your mock timetable now, you won't be able to do anything about it until Aug 9th!

Then, what exactly do I have to do on course registration day (June 27)?

You just pick your courses i.e. Physics 1B03 and the term, so either T2/T1, and I believe evening/day if it's offered twice in 1 term. That's it!

Select courses and the term you want them in. >99% of courses won't let you pick sections. Some do, but that's rare and usually for courses that only have one section anyways.

Do you mean I will need to select courses for both terms?

Lol yes.
You have plenty of time to change your term 2 courses, though (up until mid-Jan I believe). For payment purposes (as well as sectioning and getting a seat in courses you want) you should register in all 30 units now.

... does this mean that making a mock timetable is basically useless.

Um I'm gonna say yes IMO. But it's good to see if classes don't conflict with each other and stuff, but that usually only concerns the cores and not the labs/tutorials.

No. Nerual meant that you can't pick sections for most courses now, but you can change it around after SOLAR gives you the ready-made timetables (released on Aug 7). On Aug 9th, then you can change it around to the sections you want according to your mock timetable.

I do agree that mock timetables aren't as useful in upper years, when there is only 1 core and few lab/tutorial sections.

No, if you read what I was responding to, the question was asking what do we do on registration day. At that point, you only pick the courses and terms, generally no sections at all. In August after you get a timetable assigned to you (ie you're placed in sections for all your courses) you have the opportunity to try to switch things around. The popular sections will probably be full, and you might not be able to switch into what you want.

I don't think mock timetables are useful at all in first year, but in upper years they're good so that you can see if your courses conflict before registering in them.

Ah I see. For a second there I thought I'd just wasted several hours of my day.

Thanks for the clarification.

In the calendar it says "three lectures, one tutorial, one lab (3 hrs) every other week" does that indicate the tutorials are EOW too?
