Like some of the questions were ridiculous.
Like the multiple choice question, that asked what fashion does Michael addition occur on the alpha beta carbonyl.....
i thought it was 1,4 but one of my friends told me its 1,2 b/c he saw it was the answer on a previous years midterm..
LIKE IM SOOOO CONFUSEDD......

Lol, such an awesome midterm.

Anyway, the answer is 1,4 - you got that one right, your friend must have been looking at another reaction.

That PLP question was pretty funny too, a few people I spoke with didn't quite get that one.

The one with the NO2 mech - pretty sure I got zero. I was working on some ideas, but I ran out of time to even check if it made sense. Also the one worth six on the page before, with the ring with Ns and Os in it, went pretty bad...that molecule are a pain to draw, sucking up time...

PLP I think I did pretty good on, but I haven't checked back with the notes yet. It was almost fun drawing all those arrows, watching the electrons bounce up and down.

...I've heard the exams for our prof are usually epic massacres, too...

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't you not supposed to talk about exams online for a little while after you write because of the people who get to write late? Especially considering most of you have your real names connected to your accounts, it probably isn't a good idea.

This course uses early writes (or it did in the last one), or just pushes it to the exam. I haven't heard of a case, or even the opportunity, to write at a third time. So we're pretty ok.

2nd year courses tend to be less **** than first year bio (thank god!), lol.

I was told by my Dr. kajiura that in rare cases some students with medical/mental issues are allowed to right late (despite early write times for illnesses/scheduling conflicts) so they can have extra time to prepare. She also told us that many years ago a student with severe anxiety problems read online about how hard a test was and hung himself in his dorm room. The policy for that class was that anyone who is caught writing about a test online within a week after the test would get an automatic 0 on that test. I was just under the assumption that it's a fairly universal rule of thumb to not talk about tests right away (even though that's when we all have the most to complain about)

That policy does exist in the Bio department (though it only seems to be bothered with the the first year classes), though I'm not sure about the chem department. We have not been told to not talk about it, which I am sure would happen if it was an issue. Its possible that in the class there are very few students, if any, writing late, and us writing online about it is an insignificant issue. Also, there was discussion within hours of the last exam on avenue, and there was no issue made of it. So I think we're fine. If anything, we're better because this site is separate from Avenue (ie, where someone would look for hints)

Also, don't believe everything Dr.Kajiura says. While severe anxiety disorder is a serous condition, and some students need extra time/accommodations, the "one week" rule primarily see, to be meant to prevent cheating. I've never heard of this hanging case before, even though I took Bio with her last year, so I have some issues with its authenticity.

tl;dr We're fine.

Which one was the one with the "ring with Ns and Os in it"? There were so many of those I'm not sure which one you're talking about =P

It'd actually be pretty hilarious for getting in trouble talking on an unofficial forum about how hard a test was.

Really? I've never thought that you can't talk about the test after its done.
Dr. Kajiura is bull****ing for sure, I mean she honestly wants us to think "OMG, someone killed themselves because a test was too hard!"
"What can do we to stop this? Make the tests easier?"
"Nah keep the same difficulty its the students fault we should threaten them with failing if they tell their friends a test was hard!"

It was some ugly thing with a 6, a 5 (both with an N) and I THINK another 5 ring with two Os in it (I can't even remember). It said the thing was in acidic conditions (or something like that - maybe even basic) and it's like "show all possible products"

So I went QQ for a minute, cursed Organic chemistry, muttered something about whether this was visual arts or a science class, glared at the nitrogen sneering at me, sighed and then I just did a couple of quick protonations and moved on...never got back to it, I figured I was better off guessing a few reactants/conditions for a mark each instead of one big ugly structure in the last five minutes.

Yesterday's test was definitely more challenging than the first. But still nowhere near as hard as Chem 1AA3 tests/exam, IMO.. haha

At least we wrote it though! In the long run, it can only benefit us (:
