Transfer Credit
I need to take a course to get into my program next year, I was wondering if taking the course at another university over the summer will still qualify me for admission into my program. I don't want to take it next semester because I don't want to bring down my average down. I was thinking of taking the second orgo chem

You would have to get a letter of permission from your associate deans office first. http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /calendar/current/pg1507.html

I got a B in 2ao3, is 2ob3 a lot harder than 2oa3? I heard that most of what is covered in 2ob3 is similar to the last chapter, chapter 11 and I found this very challenging. I'm having a hard time deciding if I should take it next semester or in the summer. Any Advice?

I'm having the same issue as you, my biggest concern is that aren't courses taken at other universities counted and only a 'complete'...so we don't get a letter grade?

Look under "Letters of Permission".
Grades at another university do not count toward your CGPA. However you need at least a C- for the credit to count. This seems like a bad thing but it's really not. If you have a lot of A's and you get a B in a hard course over the summer, that B won't pull your average down.

In you McMaster transcript it will show up as "Complete" but you'll also be registered as a student (part-time student to be more precise) and the university you took the course at will also have their own transcript with your grade on it.

The only thing is that the course won't count towards your CA/SA, which could be a good or bad thing.

But, if you're applying to any post-grad program, you will still need a transcript from that school...so your mark will still show up. So although your CGPA isn't affected it's not like your mark is unknown.
