Transferring into a level 1 program with not so great post-secondary mark
Hey, I just wanted to ask here... Is it possible to apply and be accepted to a first year program at mac (or any university in Ont. in general) with not so great post secondary marks but great high school marks? I am asking on behalf of a friend who spent a year in military college however she decided it was not for her. She generally did well in her engineer courses but crap in other mandatory courses like English, French and psych, so her average is not competitive but it was good enough to continue at RMC. She’s emailed different faculties of schools she’s interested in and is awaiting replies... but ya just wondering about if such transfers happens and if not, does she do the stuff you would normally do for reinstatement?

Is the third paragraph of this link applicable to my friend?

Maybe. It probably depends on the program they're applying to.

I'm afraid something like this would be very subjective...dependin g on the school, she may have to apply as a mature student and go through an interviewing process, or at other places she may just use her highschool grades and apply as a direct transfer student.

In either case, I don't think anyone on this site is equipped to help answer your question...this would be for September '10 right? Maybe it'd be best if she swings past some drop-in counselling.
