Try processing this thought process...

Try processing this thought process...
Try to make sense out of option 3):
All cats have 7 legs.
  1. True
  2. False
  3. Both 2) and 3) are correct
  4. None of the above
Infinite loop? I found it very fascinating, the thought process involved when trying to understand something like this.

Edit:
I wonder what the approach would be like to actually break this down. What field of study would be involved in doing this?

Infinite loop? I just though of it after seeing this question in a Psych 1X03 lecture and found it very fascinating (and confusing).

Wth....

why not try..

This sentence is false.

I know it's false. Try to make sense out of option 3.

It seems like there's potential for an infinite loop at first, but upon further analysis it doesn't really seem like it.

We know 2 is correct, so we can look at option 3 in two ways:

If 3 is incorrect, then either 2, 3, or both 2 and 3 must be incorrect. We know that 2 is correct, so only 3 must also be incorrect. Seems like a self-proof to me, and there's nothing wrong with it.

However, I believe 3 is correct. Since we know 2 to be correct, this suggests that 3 is correct, which suggests that both 2 and 3 are correct. Another self-proof, and a correct one at that.

...But yeah, I think the answer to the question is 3, not 2.

Madness.

'Kay, we know that the only decision to make is whether 3 is correct or incorrect. In layman terms, explain your approach to this.

I think yes, infinite loop. Because, if 3 is correct, you must look at 2 and 3, which makes you look at to and three again, and again, and again...

Visualize it like this:
It just keeps going. An endless feedback loop.

Interesting. A recursive MC answer. Still think the answers 2 though lol. One of those 'Don't over think it' questions?

Actually this is more accurate representation:

I wonder what the approach would be like to actually breakdown the logic and science behind this. What field of study would be involved in doing this?

I remember writing a test in first year where every multiple choice answer had one of the following:

All of the above.
None of the above.
X and Y only.

I HATE THOSE TESTS.

They are the best at making you second guess your abilities.

Thats why you dont second guess. Stick with your first answer.

lol what a good question.

The answer should just be 2 and not 3 because 3 states that both 2 and 3 are correct but in reference to the question only 2 has to actually do with the question itself. Option 3 is referring to itself as correct over and over again in an infinite loop but that itself has nothing to do with the QUESTION itself, of course it does include option 2 in it but the fact that it referred itself as correct when it technically has nothing to do with the question is wrong.... so i would pick just 2.

Ugh why the hell can't I edit my original post :?!

I just wanted to add that I/we already know what the safest answer would be. It was just something to think about...stimulate your brain.
