I hate my shitty ass HP laptop. I had to send it in twice for hardware failure.

Since there's no other option, I'd vote in favour of the HP, but I recommend you look into other companies for your laptop (you might find an even better deal).

And as for your concern, yes, Apple computers and gaming don't mix. If you're a gamer, then an Apple is most certainly not for you.

Oh yeah! I completely forgot about Microsoft Office for the Mac. Also, I heard that gaming and Mac don't mix very well.

Voting so far is in favour of HP - Windows hmmm....
You can always install windows on the side to play games as well. This is what I did and games ran ****ing awesome. There seems to be a bit of apple hate around here from what I can tell.

The general tendency of windows being extremely unreliable (BSOD's) and the hell that is Windows Vista.

Pssh, stop complaining about Vista. It's over now. Windows 7. Do it.

lol people are getting to hyped up over Windows 7. It's basically just a tweaked Vista but people seem to think its amazing since all they have to compare it against is Vista which was a major flop. It's still got nothing on OSX.

I'm not really amazed by Windows 7, but it does run better than Vista does on my laptop. My laptop is lacking proper hardware support under the Linux kernal, and that's the only reason I use Windows over Debian.

OS X is too nub for most things I do. Try configuring anything slightly complicated on it (i.e. choosing which folder you want to share; setting up an FTP server. etc). It's a nightmare since Apple tries hide it as much as possible from the user.

And for the record; 90% of operating systems have got everything on OS X and more .

honestly, you cant compare an hp laptop and a macbook pro. In terms of quality the macbooks aluminum design screams quality. The HP will never be able to match the battery of the 13 inch macbook pro. In terms of specs the Hp or the mac might be superior. Life science students do not need windows, everything i did was on Os X and when we did presentations mine were always superior because i was using keynote. if you want a laptop that can run both Os X and Windows 7, amazing build quality, tremendous resale value then go with the macbook pro. If you want a decent computer with a decent OS then go with the HP.
