I am also on the unassigned list! I hope we find out our room assignments soon..
I emailed them about it and they said when someone cancels their residence app they check the unassigned list for someone who wanted that room type and who answered the personality questions similar to the other person in the room.. so I guess they still take what you wanted into consideration, although you still might not get what you wanted

I'd start looking off-campus or something just in case. If worst comes to worst for Mac, they would give you your $600 deposit back and maybe a guarantee next year to make it up to you.

^ Unless they guaranteed you residence. In my case, I emailed them, said that I would hear back shortly, and that regardless, at the latest in August, the "guaranteed residence" status would be honored, albeit having the potential to not get any of my choices. But, a room is a room.

^This. Definitely email them as soon as you can just so you can see what your status is and have enough time to look for alternate accommodation- just in case!

Any time you email them they tell you to login to the starrez residence portal and do the work of checking yourself. Beyond that they repeat the same old thing: you will be given a room assignment when one becomes available. Definitely not impressed so far.

Well, I have some good news for people who have unassigned residences like myself.
I ended up visiting McMaster today to inquire about a program, and I dropped by the residence office and asked about the entire process and why I haven't gotten a room.
Needless to say, they stated that they would be giving out requests within the next week until the first week of August for students that are guaranteed residence.
Hope this solves some of your problems!

Thank you for the update! I'm sure a lot of people will be relieved!
