Unbalanced schedule
I was selecting my courses today on SOLAR and most the electives I wanted were already full, as a result my schedule is somewhat unbalanced. I have 6 courses during the first term and 4 courses during the second term.

First Term: Health Age 1BB3, Econ 1B03, Comp Sci 1BA3, Anthrop 1A03, Socio 1A06, and Stats 1L03

Second Term: Commerce 1E03, Econ 1BB3, Math 1M03, and Socio 1A06

Do you guys think this is a good idea, or should I try to balance out my schedule?

even though you're making your term 2 much easier, term 1 looks like hell IMO. over-loading in term 1 isn't a good idea especially in first year because you haven't experienced university courses yet and you need time to adjust from the difficulty of high school to university. i would suggest moving Anthro 1A03 or Health age 1bb3 to term 2. equally balanced terms would be better.

term 1: 5, term 2:5
OR
term 1: 4, term 2: 6

Would be best, for the reasons explained by the other poster.
Econ, compsci and maybe stats should be pretty darn easy

Problem is, all the electives I want during term 2 are full. Is it possible for me to email someone to open a spot for me, or am I out of luck?

You can, but you most likely won't get a spot because they are electives. Just talk to the department each course belongs to.

You can keep checking solar everyday. It's rare, but people do drop courses before 2nd term starts.

I looked, but cannot seem to find the contact info for the department that each course belongs to. Could someone please provide a link?

I don't think it's a good idea to have an unbalanced course load in first year. Try to fix it so that you have 5 courses each term. Keep trying over the summer to get the courses for first term. Then you have up until second term to keep trying for those courses.

6 courses one term and 4 courses another term is definately doable, lots of people do this. But I don't suggest it for first year.

As people have suggested, either make term 1: 4 courses and 6 the next term or balance it out. Email the appropriate people and see is any adjustments can be made otherwise I suggest finding some other electives such as Geog (which are fairly easy according to reviews).

As others suggested, I don't recommend you take an unbalanced course load in first year, especially with 6 in first term and 4 in second. If anything, try to make it 4 in term 1 and 6 in term 2. If the electives you want are full, there's still plenty of time to try and get in. You have July all the way to the first 2 weeks or so of school, so keep trying!
