UOIT Transfer
Hey guys,
Currently a first year engineering student at UOIT. Decided the school just wasn't for me.
Looking to switch to Mac as it was always my first choice. I'm currently sitting at around a 4.0 GPA ( thats around 85-90%). Just wondering if anyone has experience with transferring into mac? And if I can move directly into first year.
Thanks!

You would transfer directly into a general first year at Mac. Given that you are at an accredited eng program already, any of your relevatn courses would get transferred, but (let's say for example you're in a Mechanical stream), you likely wouldn't recognize any of those credit transfers until you actually got into Mech in second year.

Also, a 4.0 GPA isn't 85-90.

A 4.0 implies you got over 90 in everything.

So i wouldn't be able to directly transfer into a second year stream is what you're saying?

and 4.0 on the UOIT gpa scale not the mcmaster one

Probably not. I bet some courses aren't offered there. At most you'd get some transfer credits. You'd prob have to take a year of electives+fill in courses for those you didnt take.

No, you likely would not be able to go directly to second year.

And saying you have a 4.0 GPA is a misrepresentation (even on resumes and things like that) because it implies you're using the 4.0 system, rather than the 4.3 system (which is primarily used in the States). Just something to keep in mind for the future But yeah, it doesn't matter what you tell us your average is, although you should get used to the Mac system...when you send in your transcripts they'll convert everything for you.

Okay thanks for the heads up! Also last question I know my first year would consist of the few makeup courses and some electives but do you think I could tailor those electives to be my management year? That would seem beneficial to me atleast!

I transferred from UNB after finishing first year. All the credits were transferred and I got into second year. Anyways, I think you got a high chance to be accepted here at Mac. I suggest you visit the dean's office at the department you want to transfer to.

To get in management program you just need a high average (at least a 7 around on mac scale) and completion of econ 1bb3

How similar was your first year curriculum to mac's? And did you simply just schedule an appointment to talk to the dean about transferring?
