Upgrading a 3-year degree to a 4-year Honours BA
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew any information about upgrading a degree from a 3 year BA to a 4 year Honours BA.

I currently hold a 3 year general BA in Anthropology and for the past year I've been looking for jobs and looking into doing a MA degree however a lot of MA requires me to have a 4 year degree.

Is upgrading my degree even possible?

I've e-mailed the school, but they tend to either ignore me or take a month to reply.

I know at schools like U of T and Guelph, you are able to upgrade from a 3 year to a 4 year Honours BA, but I can't find any information on McMaster's site.

Any ideas?

It is called being a 'continuing student' and information is available on the school's website.

Yes, I was looking at that but it only mentions information about taking additional courses after graduating. I couldn't find anything related to upgrading from a general BA to 4-year Honours BA

You know what I'd suggest? Walk right into the Anthro department office, on a day when the department's academic advisor is on duty. Tell the department secretary about your intentions, and they'll pass you on to someone who can sort it out for you. I ran into loads of problems getting back into Mac for a second degree, but every problem was fixed after meeting someone in person (or on the phone if it was the Registrar's office). Email was always a waste of time. As for continuing student status - I found Mosaic doesn't seem to be set up for Continuings to take a full courseload. But a departmental secretary (or the faculty office, or the registrar) is powerful enough to override everything for you!

From the McMaster website:
Quote:
At McMaster, a Continuing Student is defined as a graduate from an undergraduate program who wishes to take undergraduate courses out of general interest, to upgrade, or to complete requirements for future applications to graduate studies or other professional programs.
But yeah, obviously you should still see an academic advisor.
That is the general response to pretty much any question of this type.
