Well, that sort of is how turn-based strategy games work (though putting FF-XIII in that category is a bit ... much). You can't really compare FF-XIII to the earlier
games.
That said, I feel the earlier games in the series were stronger, simply because
Sakaguchi was still involved in their making (who is now with
Mistwalker).
I think there should be a disclaimer for FF games now: 'Sakaguchi not involved in the making of this game.'
TL;DR(I worry for the world): Yes, no, all FF games are not like FF-XIII, not by a long shot.
