In before someone bitter says something about how they go to university for education, not partying. Let's be real, Western is just as good or better than Mac in almost all areas when it comes to quality of education.

Now that you said it, it's real.

"Taking the top spot was the University of Colorado at Boulder...."

Those evangelical christian dudes sure know how to live it up.

Communion wine = crunk juice.

To come from a top party school is NOT a good association regardless of how good education might actually be..

( yes I get the ref to the whole charlie sheen "winning" thing but this is actually a huge fail. )

Dammit, I'll reject my med school acceptance letter immediately.

Is this really true though? Lots of people say [this] uni is better than [that] uni, but I think the only people who can really say that are those who have experienced programs at both schools. Western may have better Social Sciences (for eg.), but I'm sure our Eng and Medical programs are better. It's all opinion.

I think employers should consider the university when hiring.. I would argue that because Western has such a homogenious populations, schools like McMaster would produce students more tolerant of diversity - which in turn does affect work experience.

Just read the entire list. I'm disappointed Brigham Young University wasn't up there. Don't Mormons know how to party it up?

All medical schools in Canada are good. It's more about teaching style: Mac is PBL style learning, whereas Western is lectures & small groups discussion.

In 2010, Western grads were #1 on the MCCEE (meds licensing exam). http://communications.uwo.ca /com/w...10117447275 /

Western also matches really well for competitive residency positions: http://carms.ca/pdfs/2010R1_MatchRes...ipline2_en.pdf

15 people wanted gen surg at UWO - 12 got it
3 people wanted ENT - 3 got it
4 people wanted urology - 3 got it
2 people wanted plastics - 2 got it
2 people wanted ophtho - 2 got it

Still Mac has a really good IM residency program.

Really? Whats your justification? How is it a 'bad association' if the education quality and your marks are good?

Seems to me like you just hate partying. This makes you a party pooper.

Butts, lol

P.S. - why does every Western thread turn into a discussion about medical school?

It would have been much more convenient and closer to home for me to go to Western, but I chose not to because o its reputation as a party school.
While I'm sure it helps get them some students, I'm equally sure it drives many away.

However, I will say, most of the Western students I know are not crazy partiers.
