Yeah we get our HD box free for a year. After that it's $12.95 a month to keep it. We'll keep ours though thankfully.

I'm thinking of saving up some money to go halfs or something with my parents on buying a box. It's expensive (I'd like to have the PVR one) but it's a better deal than paying the $24.95 a month that it costs to rent the HD PVR from Rogers.
