WHMIS question
Thinking way ahead, I need WHMIS as a prereq for Archaeology Field School summer 2013. I'm wondering if this follows the same premise as a "normal" academic course...

does it take a term to complete it? How long are the classes/how many per week? Are the fees for it similar to those for an academic course?

thanks.

It's a zero credit online course/quiz that you do on avenue2learn.

"WHMIS 1A00 (or SCIENCE 1A00), a one-hour mandatory on-line Introduction to Health and Safety course."

It actually depends on what sort of WHMIS you need/what you'll be doing. For most courses, Science 1A00 will suffice, but some require additional training depending on the nature of the work.

The undergrad calendar says it's just Science 1A00, so luckily the OP will only need to a short quiz.

The requirements are only in the course calendar if it's a "course". I've taken courses with other requirements not listed, because they aren't a course you have to register for on SOLAR.

For sure, but I would find it silly for a course to require both the short Science 1A00 requirement and the extensive WHMIS training.

It's not necessarily the extensive WHMIS training where you have to sit in the class and take the test, some courses have a modified version specific to what they're doing in the course.

EOHSS offers a 3-hour training session, "WHMIS Core". Next one's June 13th.

Don't know if you have to be an employee to take it, though.
