Why does McMaster Commerce have 2nd highest tuition????
Just wondering, why the heck does commerce have the second highest tuition fees? Is Mac known for its commerce program?
It's way above the average fee of $170/unit, and only a few dollars less than engineering.
(...unless you're an international student in which case everything is expensive)
Can someone provide a rational explanation. One could say engineering is expensive cause of the equipment, specialized software etc right (i dunno)? Why is commerce nearly as expensive?

Because the commerce professors know they can charge you that much and still get away with it. Many are presumably economists after all.

Because someone has to support all those brains that work in that department. Nick Bontis is a world renowned professor after all.....
But for real, I think commerce had this reputation as being the it degree for a while. All the kids I knew were going into commerce, so maybe the school of degroote feels like they are highly valuable, so they rip you off.

Are there any online resources that commerce uses that Mcmaster would have to pay a 3rd party for? Like virtual stock trading or something? It's my understanding that the fancy engineering stuff is still owned by mcmaster, so they don't have to charge crazy amounts, but if commerce is paying a 3rd party the same may not be true.

I don't know.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the amount of government funding per student in different programs.

See that pretty board in the back? Plus to private lounge or whatever it is near Innis...plus whatever is on upper floors...
Suppose its important for them to keep up appearances too. Like, what kind of a program teaches you to use money on the cheap?

McMaster's commerce program is fairly mediocre, so maybe spending more money on it is an attempt to get it in better standings.
