Would grad schools mind four vs. five courses?
I have four extra credits and was wondering if it would negatively impact my chances at grad school if I decided to take only four instead of five courses this year. Anyone know? Would it be a problem?

Different programs ask for different things. The ones that I am applying for require that I take a full course load. I have friends who are taking four because their programs don't require that they take a full course load. Email the programs to find out if it doesn't say on their website.

It also helps if you have a reason for only taking 4, such as to focus on research. This happens a lot in the chem dept.

Only if thesis is the fifth course...still counts as a full course load.
I've never heard of a chem undergrad taking a reduced course load so they could volunteer/work in a lab doing research on the side...and I was in the chem department
