I have thought about this scenario for a very long time. My views on the matter have gradually changed every year that I ask this question to myself.

If I were asked "Would I ever hit a girl?" I would reply "I will prevent my enemies from causing me harm, with any means necessary."

I don't segregate my enemies by race, gender, class, age, or any other metric (including abstract ideas). Those who wish to endanger myself, my well-being, or those I have a vested interest in must be neutralized immediately.

tl;dr: I will hit every single girl in the world if my life was in danger.

Based on the presented scenario. I wouldn't strike her, I'd restrain her. In this instance, since her sucker punch didn't bring you down, she's getting ready for another hit with her right arm cocked back. She's also had a few drinks too and isn't focused on her low body. You have 2 choices:

1) restrain her right arm by wrapping it behind her back (this is a typical police move for restraining unruly people) Turn it into a headlock if she attacks with her left.
2) break her balance (a small sweep to the legs, a leg hook, or a small knee-strike to the back of her knee and she will fall in her place). If you can, catch her before she actually falls or align yourself in the direction of her fall and cushion her before she hits something hard. Bonus: you can play it off to her friends as her having too much to drink.

Maintain control at all times during the situation. Proceed to reason with the offender by speaking calmly but with an assertive tone. Under no circumstances should you engage in verbal assaults. This will only serve to re-ignite the violence.

If she's not getting ready for another attack, then do nothing. Walk away. The threat is neutralized and there is no need for further action.

edit: why am I calling her a *****? that wouldn't be me. If you're calling her a *****, it seems like you're the instigator in this conflict. I have nothing to say.

If it's just some drunk chick who punches me in the face, I'd probably get pissed off but I honestly don't think I could bring myself to punch a girl, even if provoked. I mean, getting sucker punched isn't exactly life or death now is it, I'd probably distance myself or at the very most restrain her.

Then I would karate chop her throat for a quick a decisive victory... but not really.
