Those seats were acclaimed since not enough people ran for it that they needed an election (same with Kin and ArtSci). So whoever nominated themselves or w/e got the seats since there was no competition.

		EWB Student Fee Referendum

The Referendum failed to reach quorum and the ballots will be disposed of shortly. There were over 1100 votes cast and quorum was approximately 1950 ballots.

There were some candidates who won who I've never even heard of. Example is with commerce where I've heard of Alvand but not the others also happened in Science and Soc Sci.

After counting the ballots and seeing the results, this was one of the wierdest elections results I've experienced, and I've experienced a lot of elections here on campus.

Good luck next year, you're gonna need it!

Healthy tip to all future candidates...

MOST OF YOUR POSTERS SUCK. USE CONTRAST, AND PUT YOUR LAST NAME IN BIG ASS LETTERS. ALSO LEARN ABOUT PRINT RESOLUTIONS, DSLR CAMERAS AND STRONG TYPEFACES.

A lot of the people who won here had posters which followed those principles. It's about catching peoples eyes when they are in transit. A black poster with red text in some font you think is cool does not work.

You need name recognition. The biggest example of this is Amanda Stevens who got 103 votes without doing a single thing. People voted for her because they recognized her name from posters in past years where her name was prominently displayed.

CONTRAST AND BOLD NAMES.

Hehe, it's kinda funny, b/c I thought the exact thing every time I saw a lousy poster.

Cioci had a good poster.

Some surprises here... I was surprised to find out that Boccaccio and Korolyk didn't make it in for soc sci. I thought that them two, along with Huzaifa and Amber (who were re-elected; good) would have been the most qualified.

I was also surprised to see Behdad and Ramirez get in with the most votes...I didn't even know they were running. I guess this goes to show that you don't necessarily need the most posters to be elected. Its also interesting to note that they each got the same number of votes...I guess campaigning as a team works!

Anyways, congrats to all the winners, hope you all do some good work this year!

P.S. If I'm looking to find out more and get involved with the SRA, are the meetings open to the public to observe? Thanks.

Ramirez and Behdad made their poster in word as I was printing Adkins/Sharma ones, I watched them do it. They got votes by standing in the atrium with signs and tshirts, getting people who normallly wouldn't have voted to walk 100 feet and vote for them.

I made the Adkins/Sharma ones, people said they liked them. They didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, I ran into a few snags along the way.

It was grassroots organizing, efficient get-out-the-vote techniques and incredibly passionate dedication that won them their seats. Advertising is a very small portion of campaigning, as this year's campaigns showed. Students voted for ideas and dedication, not flashy slogans and glittery posters.
