Why not the i7 2600K ? or the i5 2500K? The latter in my opinion is a better bang for the buck.

Yeah, I won't bother with laptops any more unless it is a Netbook or tablet. I had an HP laptop for 3 years and this summer the HDD died on me and I just built a rig. I find it way better.

Quoted for truth.

Bought a gaming PC when I came into first year, by third year I had picked up a small, light netbook with 10+ hour battery-life and enough power to take notes and surf the web between classes and I completely stopped taking my Laptop to school. Upgraded to a desktop this summer and haven't looked back once.

I think i use my laptop twice a week for class, all my other classes have equations and they are way too awkward to write efficiently.

Having a laptop helped a lot since about halfway through first semester last year my desktop died so i had to use my laptop for everything. It helped a lot since i didnt have to scramble to get a new desktop right away, so i picked up some awesome, cheap parts at boxing day and black friday sales

I still have a laptop, it's just a small, efficient netbook rather than a massive gaming laptop
