The Zodiac sign thing.
Well, someone had to make a topic about it.
It's very likely your Zodac sign may have changed to make new for the newcomer, Serpentarius Ophiuchus.
New dates here.
My thoughts, as echoed from my comment on someone's Facebook status:
- "Serpentarius" sounded way cooler.
- I'm not a Virgo. Why does it get a 6+ week span anyway?
- Scorpio definitely got shafted.
- The unequal distribution is a little unfair. I have a feeling new-Scorpios are going to have an easier time getting girls. "Ohh, he's a Scorpio. Only like 2% of people are Scorpios now. Do me, ___".
- I don't care, I'm still a Libra. There's so much more meaning in that.
I don't believe in astrology, but sometimes it's fun to see what the newspapers have to say about your day and how far you'll go to make that connection or prediction true.
What do you think?
Edit: Heh, I just arbitrarily plucked an article from Google News to link, but I had to link the one that dismissed it all at the end. =\

Sorry, but I'm kinda at a crossroads between not caring about astrology whatsoever and being appalled by the writing style of that author... so... no comment.

Hmm I have this book called "The Astrology of Birthdays" and it's actually really neat because it expalins the personality traits of people born on each day of the year, and so far it's been very accurate. And btw, scorpios get laid the most anyway. They're the sexiest sign of the zodiac (as far as what I've read). But I guess that doesn't necessarily mean they get laid the most... Anyway, they can't add a new sign. Not only would it mess up the rest of the signs, but it would also totally alter the decanates.

Billions of light-years out into the vast nothingness of the galaxy, gas giants are fusing heavy elements and blasting out radiation back into the dark void of incomprehensible proportions. They have existed before my prehistoric ancestors first roamed the earth, and many more will exist even after our own sun will burn out like a candle in a dark room.
Yet on this day, I, I can feel them shifting their position in space. The stars are aligning, just for me, and this could only mean one thing. If I "step outside of my comfort zone, I might meet someone special this week".

"Popular astrologer Susan Miller called the news "ridiculous." "We've known about this for ages," she told ABC News. "The constellations don't suggest what's coming up, it's the planets. The constellations are a measuring device."
so much fail in her statement!

Are you aware since the system of assigning people astrological symbols was first laid out, the relative position of the stars when viewed from earth has changed? I.e. your sign is wrong. Now it's even more wrong.

Just pointing out the signs are already messed up. Adding another does no harm.

if you account for the change in the earth's tilt and the 'new sign (it existed in the beginning but was taken out for purposes of symmetry by the Babylonians) your signs are correctly
Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11
Pisces: March 11-April 18
Aries: April 18-May 13
Taurus: May 13-June 21
Gemini: June 21-July 20
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23-Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20
