Sometimes people don't have time or arent able to go see an academic advisor at the moment. What's the harm in asking a question on macinsiders? Some people may have the same questions or another person may have an answer to the question. Isn't macinsiders meant to help people?

Those are all valid points, but I will address the part about what the harm may be.

Nobody here knows your specific situation, nor do we know the strings that can be pulled and whatnot. The information you get here may not be accurate for specific individual situations. If you act based on the information you get here, you could screw yourself over in the long run - not because people on MI intentionally led you astray; they just didn't know all of the options.
If you just want to ask while you're waiting for the appt, and you won't act on any of the information, then it's arguable that you're asking a pointless question and wasting space on MI as well as people's time, since the thread and the answers that come out of it won't actually help you. That is a debatable point, but that is one side of it.
Often people post on here just because they need people to tell them that they're doing the right thing, which is both useless and could be detrimental to the person's overall development - if you get into the habit of not doing anything or making decisions about your life until other people have told you that it's okay, you're not going to be very successful at anything you do.

Yeah, that makes sense. I see why its sometimes a problem.
