Thats probably the main reason why they should install camera in the exam room, to catch moments of absolute win.

He must have been desperate :/ Writing stuff on your arms is such an old and known trick.

It could be stuff not related to the course. I tend to write notes to myself on my arms telling me to study, reminding me to call someone etc. I also tend to write the location and time of my exam on my arms so that I don't forget about them.

Needless to say, I'm a bit absentminded sometimes.

It's possible that the invigilators saw him and waited to talk to him on his way out. Confronting him in the exam room might have caused a commotion and disturbed other students.

I think this is probably the best explanation. They know based on the seating chart you sign and when you collect your exam what you name and student # are, they can very easily alert the right people after the exam has finished and mark your paper with a note to investigate further. Calling you out in the middle of the exam would be disruptive to the other students and embarrassing for the student cheating, especially if they weren't actually cheating.

Well if the invigilators were watching they could discuss it after the exam, also again they have a seating plan with other students names and student numbers. If need be they could also contact these students to verify what the invigilators saw.

I'm sure they have methods to catch cheaters, I doubt its as easy as just writing things on your arms and having nobody notice. If the OP noticed its likely other people noticed too. My question is why the OP didn't report it? Is there a policy on this kind of thing, are you allowed to tell an invigilator during or after the exam if you witnessed someone cheating? I'd be pretty annoyed if I was in an exam and someone was cheating and didn't get caught.

I would have told the invigilator. Cheaters are a huge pet peeve of mine, so I hope no cheaters sit next to me during any exams.

you should've told the invigilators. like asked one to come over, then pointed at the guy and gestured there was something on his arm.

serves them right for cheating.
