Computer Engineering Cutoff
Hey guys
I'm currently in first year engineering, and I really want to get into computer engineering, but I'm so confused as to what the cutoff admission is for it. I know its based on how many people apply for it, but I keep hearing different things and I'm just interested in knowing what average people normally get in with. I'm really nervous that I might not get the stream that I want. Thanks!

There is no set cut-off. Not only does it depend on the number of people who apply, but it also depends on what their grades are (and if they still do the free choice thing).

The higher your grades, the higher your chances. One year someone might get in with a certain grade, and the next year, that grade might not be good enough. I think 9-10+ should get you into most if not all streams, but it's never guaranteed.

Cut-offs change each year but in the past computer engineering had low admission average. I think people used to get in with a 4 or maybe 4shh.
I don't know how popular the program is now, but most likely it is still around 4. Talk to 2nd year comp eng people and see what the average was last year. Although it might change this year but most likely it's going to be very similar to last year.
Just try your best for now and don't worry too much about the cut-off. The higher you get, the less stressed you will be at the end of the year.

Keep in mind that the program only has around 55 sits. So competition can be heavy.

Computer Engineering historically has required a low average to get it. I was accepted 2 years ago with a 7-ish average.

If you're still concerned about getting in, put down Electrical as your second choice. You'll end up taking largely the same courses in years 2 and 3, with options to take more comp eng courses as electives.
