Course Questions
Where can I find definite information as to what is being offered next summer?*

I was thinking of going from 34 units to 31 units to lighten my course load this semester to do (what I would think) better overall in school.

Would dropping to 31 and taking one of my mandatory courses and my elective in the summer still make me a "full-time" student?* And what is the absolute minimum number of units to be required to be full time?* (and are there acceptions to this unit limit?)

Thanks

(http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...nt/pg1214.html are my courses, I was thinking about stats and elective in the summer)

Do you mean what courses are offered in summer 2011? I think those are released pretty last minute. There won't be any information on that now. I would check in like December, at the earliest.

I believe a full-time student is 30 units, but I could be wrong. Part-time is either 18 or 24 units, depending on if you're talking about McMaster or MSU (don't ask me why, because I don't get that either).

There's no definite way of knowing what will be offered next summer, you can sort of guess what might be offered based on what was offered this summer. It just depends on the profs who will be around and the faculty who decides what courses they think should be offered.

The summer timetable will probably be released December/January, since I know registration is in late March usually.

For next summer (2011), you will have to wait till about March/April 2011 to find out.

congrats on getting into Biomed & Elec!

I did the same thing after first year. I took my elective last summer and now next year I only have 11 courses instead of 12 . I don't think it will affect you as according to this: http://www.canlearn.ca/eng/main/help...tudent.sht ml a full time student is anyone who has at least 60% of the course load. So you're fine.

Only thing is, I don't think you can take any mandatory courses as none of them are offered in the summer, including stats. Though you never know, it might change by next year.

Quote:
for academic purposes is an undergraduate student who is registered in at least 24 units in the Fall/Winter session, including Extra Courses. Full-time status for students in the Faculty of Science and Engineering Co-op programs is granted to those students registered in at least 12 units in Term 1 or Term 2 of the Fall/Winter session.

Thanks a lot for the responses; I'll save my elective things for a summer!
