is that right? ahah
Yup, that's exactly it.

Under Chemistry 1A03, there are only Lectures and Labs but I saw this note it says:
  • Drop In tutorial meets Monday through Friday
  • 8:30-10:30 and 14:30-16:20 in ABB/136
What does this mean? Does this mean there's a tutorial for Chem or not?

You can't choose more than one.

It's drop in, which means it isn't required. You basically go if you need help, or want help.

Is it helpful to have a tutorial on the same day as the class, or would it be better to spread them out?

Also, do we choose specific times for our classes when we register for SOLAR, or are we given an opportunity to customize our timetables later on?

Thanks

from what i understand, the tutorials and labs happen on diff days from the lectures, and some are even every other week [if it says EOW beside it].

i think we get to arrange our tt the way we want it, but if we don't, we can always go have it changed. not sure, though :S

tutorials and labs do not start the week school starts. some classes that are really big usually have the same lab that spands two weeks inorder for everyone in the class to do it. It really doesn't matter. The only difference is if you are the first one to do the lab, you won't be able to ask for help for your prelab questions. But that isn't a big deal, they are usually easy. The tutorials and labs will try to be as fair as possible to make sure no one is at a disadvantage. Most tutorials don't take attendence, so if you want more help, you can always drop in to another one.

For rearranging your timetable.... what do you mean? when you select the specific sections for your classes, there are times specified that the class will be and then when you put all your course times together, that will be your timetable. After you select the course on SOLAR, in aug, it will show up as a timetable format. However, if you have the times for the classes, you can just make it yourself now anyways.

Not sure if i answered your question, ask again if its still not clear!

Here is an example of the differences between the two listings (timetable listing in that specific order):

OPTION 1:
C01 C02 C03 T01 T02 T03
--> This means you can pick any combinatoin of of core and with any of the tutorial classes.

OPTION 2:
C01 T01 T02 T03 C02 T04 T05 T06
--> If you pick C01, you can only pick Tutorials 1-3.
--> If you pick C02 you can only take T04-T06.
Therefore you CANNOT HAVE: C01 and T06

So in your case, it is Option 2, you can have C02 an T01.
Hope that is clear

When you log on to SOLAR, that is where you will do the course selection and payment agreemnt.
On Aug 3rd, when you log in to MUGSI front page, you can click on "Personal Timetable" and it will be avaliable for you. Afterwards, if you change any of your courses, it will update on this timetable after a while.
The timetable will have the course code, course section number, time and room listed on it. You can just print it and off you go to class

So you don't need to make your timetable. If you want to you can anyways, since you have all the information and times.
Hope that is the answer you are looking for.
