Heard something about the requirement being that you are registered in 4 courses, instead of that 60% load rule. is that true?

Also Mosaic shifts my capstone units to 2nd semester (capstone in the 1st term has 0 units, capstone in the 2nd term has 6 units). Is that a bug or 1st term capstone really isn't worth shit?

The requirements for being a full-time student depend on the organization. OSAP considers it as 60%. MSU considers it as something different. I think academically it is something different too - or maybe that is also 60%.

Assuming capstone is similar to a thesis, it should be spread out over both terms, but I'm not 100% sure.

Nothing has changed. 24 units from September to April (with any distribution between fall and winter) to be academically full time. With 18 units, you are full-time per the student union (you receive the bus pass, insurance etc.). The 18-unit requirement is also what most other organizations (like insurance companies, or banks) consider full-time.

The "term" designation supposedly helps streamline registration, limit interest on outstanding tuition and was possibly caused by the nature of the software.

In talking to a department official, I came away with the understanding that there some things in Mosaic that McMaster just had to put up with. They didn't design it themselves. This new "term" thing and a lot of the new terminology were just unchangeable features of the software.

My understanding is that's what it used to be. Now it all uniform, they made the change over this past summer. I know because I called to confirm with financial aid for my canada summer jobs grant for my work.

OSAP is 60% for full time (translates to 18 units), MSU is 18 units as it was before. Academic definition of full time for i think for all faculties used to be 80% or 24 units over the course of Fall/Winter but from what i understand that has now changed to 60% or 9 units per term. Check with financial aid or your faculty to be sure.
