That's true... It also depends on how people lock their bikes (Front first or back first). I was thinking, if you just lift up the rack, you'd have bike wheels on the ground on both sides. So if all the bikes are locked front first (although it's better to lock your bike back first so people don't just remove your tire and leave with the bike). then you only need 2 people XD

Do trouble makers really spend time on a student forum geared toward academics? (Serious question, I don't really know XD)

You never know XD. There's a lot of academic people who become trouble makers and vice versa. Or to gather ideas , who knows

Last thursday outside jhe annex in the middle of the day while i was at work someone tried to steal my bike. i had a wire type lock with a number lock thingy from high school. they had twisted it like crazy and a bunch of the plastic had come off.

I asked my parents to drop me off a u-lock right away. from what i've heard theives just dont even look at u locks.

i posted about my theft attempt thingy on facebook and immediately i had like 5 friends commenting about their experiences. some guys just steal seats, too!! crazy shit going on. such losers.

 thats hillarious
sounds like something id do to a friend
but id just move it a block over in public so they find it easy when walking to class
or better yet, switch around two bike stands that are relatively nearby each other
would really psych em out

Yes, a good U-Lock is the toughest common lock to break through. Even better is the O-lock, but they're rare and they can cost lots of $$$.

The O-lock acts similarly to a "boot" that you might see on an impounded car.

Someone should make a lock chain that is packed on the inner surface with a chemically activated explosive resin. When someone tries to twist of cut the lock, it'll push some catalyst on the inside of the plastic chain against the resin, and cause a massive explosion .

Sure, you'll probably have your bike destroyed in the process, but you'll also get the remnants of a delicious barbecued human!

I'd say it's worth it...
