RICKARD's RED AND WINGS! YESSSS! And of course better service.
Last year I went there for dinner one time, my friend and I sat there for 25 minutes without any service. Several of the girls working looked at us and just walked by. Seriously, that was the last time I went to Quarters lol.

if you want to get people in the bar, why not have 3 dollar drinks all night long for house brands?
It works in other bars so why not here? Also, do stuff to get crowds in there on Saturday. Not too long ago, Saturday's were just as busy, if not busier than Thursday's were!!
Again, I suggest cheaper drinks. Maybe a 6 dollar cover, and 3 dollar drinks ALL NIGHT LONG.
Also, the line up. The bar has the worst line up set up I've ever seen. I've waited in line for 30 minutes only to get there and see 50 people in there. WTF

Drinks were $3 all night long, unless you got something with liquers or jager and stuff..... Cover was also $4. Cheapest place to drink in the city.... don't quote me on that but cheapest I have seen.

Hmm from what I recall they were more. And I certainly remember them being cheap before 11.
I think getting the crowd back on Saturday's is key.
Thursdays are good.I went by with some buddies last year on a Saturday to watch the game and see some sights and the doors were closed at 10.
Sickening.

Agreed. Thursdays were good, always certain to see someone you know. Hopefully with the new dig and some good music and such saturdays can come back well. I find it silly that people have a bar right on their back steps and they choose to pay for a cab to head somewhere else. A cheaper bar than any other bar for cover and drinks, no cost for a cab ride, almost certain there will be a good group of people of whom you will probably know quite a few..... just doesnt make sense to go elsewhere!

So how do they fix this? Are the renovations enough? If they start getting 600 people in there twice a week again instead of the 700 people they get once a week on Thursdays, it would do a lot for school spirit and the MSU finances.
What are some suggestions to improve the "Club" portion of 1280
Discuss.

(this is a response to the first question of this thread. As far as the "club" part goes, I have no idea how to improve things)
Reasonable food prices. I stopped going to Quarters because the prices were just outrageous. Why not compete harder with the non-MSU options on campus and start getting a bigger lunch and dinner crowd? Even if you lose at first, if you build a volume it could even out.
I don't know the details of how money was lost last year, but I can't imagine getting more people in on a regular basis could hurt.

Getting more students for lunch and dinner, and just to hang out and read/do schoolwork, etc. is a big part of the plan for 1280. It's meant to be much more daytime-student-friendly, if that makes any sense.

So how do they fix the Saturday night fiasco? A friend of mine told me they had like 10 people there on Saturday.
Why is everyone going to Charlie West and not 1280???

Well Friday was Eng frosh pub at Charlie West, so if that's what youre referring to.. it was us there. I don't know how popular that place is regularly *Shrug*
And how can they get more people to club nights? Well they had the club nights detailed on those calendars they gave out at clubsfest... to first years... so if they let drunk underagers in that would work, right?

Charlie West tends to be pretty empty on Weekends during the year too, but 10 people seems like an exaggeration rather than objective fact. 1280 is essentially a frosh bar and a lot of Frosh tend to go home for the weekend early in the year. So far it seems to be doing better than quarters.

It was second Saturday of the year aka deadest weekend @ Mac, every single year (everyone goes home). SO not exactly one to worry about. Plus they didn't have full staff on to accomodate for this (I was there for a bit, and out with one of their regular bartenders after I left).
Even Hess was quite dead that day. There weren't lines at Side Bar or RokBar. On a Saturday!
Plus everyone (on my Facebook) was at Kings of Leon.
