Does Mcmaster offer a General Engineering Degree with business degree

I really want to go into Civil engineering and Management

The only reason I chose Civil is because its the only one I can relate to and like

and I want a business degree as well

So I was thinking does McMaster have like a general engineering degree with business degree

Like only

Engineering and Management

Cause I like engineering but i also like business, like marketing finance etc

en engineer by definition is very able in their field of study. There is no "general engineer" anywhere. Software is very different from mechanical which is very different from electrical which is again different from chemical. It would be almost impossible to know everything to the standards an engineer is expected to know.

That said management is a good idea for you. Try choosing a field that you may one day want to manage in.

the closest thing to general engineer is system dsign at waterloo, and some uni had intergrated or something like that...
why wouldany company hire a general engineer, they want to know you are specialized in your field.

qwerty91 is right. Field of study in different disciplines of engineering are very different.

The closer thing I can think of is mechatronics because it is basically a combination of mechanical, electrical and embedded system. They get lots of programming and circuit courses but they shares some dynamic courses as mechanical engineers. Maybe not your taste (since you said you like Civil) but if you looking for a multi-discipline engineering, mechatronics is worth a look.

It is possible to do an engineering degree with a business minor rather than full out management. Just take the minimum number of business courses required for a business minor (which may extend your schooling a semester or two).

Define engineering? Every course we have in first year corresponds to a branch of engineering. So surely you must have a knack for at least one branch. What's wrong with going in Civil if you like it? Seems to me you just want a B.Eng, but you actually are interested in business. Why not switch into business if that is really what interests you?

I believe it takes it down to 18 months instead of 2 years, so still shorter if you do go for it

And I've heard that only applies to McMaster's MBA program. You better check with other schools if the B.Eng.Mgt. degree speeds up their MBA.

The OP's question makes no sense.

"I want a general engineering degree, non-specific to any field" simultaneously, "I want to be a Civil engineer"

britb, icecubz, jim1 like this.
