How does res move in day work?
I understand that we have different move in days and times. I'm in Les Prince BTW. But I heard that people sing to you and take your stuff up to your room. My parents will be with me, and I assumed that I, with them, would go up to my room to set things up. But if people take my stuff up, am I supposed to go find something else to do? Or can I go up with them? And my parents are allowed to come up with me to take a look at my room, right?

Thanks in advance!

The singing etc is just to welcome you and help you get excited for uni. You will be directed to an area to drop off your stuff. They will HELP you carry your stuff except your valuables such as laptop etc. You and your parents can come up too but they're just helping your move in easier.

You should also go in a few hours earlier. Line ups are long

While they bring your stuff up, you can find a place to park and also get your room and building keys. By the time you get to your room, your belongings will be at the door outside and you can start arranging your room accordingly. It's pretty hectic because you'll be waiting for the elevators and there will be line-ups to get your keys as well.

There are no reps singing to you or helping you bring your stuff up. You just pick up your room and building keys, bring up your belongings, and get settled in! You may get knocks from people throughout the week who don't know you're an upper year and invite you to Welcome Week events though.
