Either by word of mouth, or if something seems epic enough.

I want to see Kick-Ass.

RT reviews usually have to be taken with a grain of salt - I've noticed they seem biased towards some kinds of movies compared to others. The ones that are rated highly are usually good, but there's a crapload of movies that are at least enjoyable to watch in theatres (e.g., some sort of action flick) that gets like, 40% on RT.

That's not to say they're spectacular movies, but yeah.

Back to the question, usually a trailer, my friend's opinions and/or RT reviews help me decide on a movie to watch.

I make most of my decisions based on the actors, directors, or franchises. Like, anything with Adam Sandler for a laugh, anything made, produced, or written by Tarantino or Scorsese, or anything that has to do with (non-cartoon) Star Wars or James Bond, for example. Or anything about zombies. I even watched that crappy newest Bond movie, Quantum of Stupid, just cuz it was a Bond flick, and Daniel Craig stomped ass as Bond in Casino Royale.

Friend recommendations are always good too, assuming the friend isn't an idiot that likes the Notebook or some other crap, and doesnt recommend seeing the Lovely Bones *cough*Cheri*cough*

A recommendation isn't "oh I'm gonna go see lovely bones, you can come."

This is recommendation: EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH GLADIATOR BECAUSE IT IS THE SINGLE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME. And the soundtrack is awesome.

Also, I resent being in the same sentence as the notebook. :@

Edit: also, I'm gonna mention that even you thought the trailer looked good, so stop trying to make yourself look like some saint with great taste. And even if the trailer DIDN'T look good, you would have seen it anyways bc of Marky Mark. ;D

I'll watch pretty much any movie at home. I like pretty much any genre of movie but the one type I almost always fall back on is sci-fi movies.

But to go to the movies and see a movie, it has to be something that has amazing effects or is just an awesome action flick.

blah blah blah. Potayto, potahto. Bottom line is my eyes would not have been subjected to that stupidfest if not for you.

You deserve to be mentioned with the notebook for thinking that gloriously awesome movies like pulp fiction suck.

Damn, i wish that was still that the theater, i would go see it instantly. Alone or not, doesn't matter.

I see movies that are hyped up beyond belief that i'd feel stupid not to see in the theater. The reason i don't see movies in theaters is really of monies, so i just torrent/stream.

The only thing it takes for me to watch a movie is if I'm hanging out with friends and we all decide if we want to watch something. I only watch a movie by myself if it's something I've seen before and would love to watch it again - otherwise I feel it's very boring watching a movie by myself.

Okay, in all seriousness:

1) Gladiator
2) To Die For (also with Joaquin Phoenix, great movie XDD)
3) The Pest (stupid as hell, but I've always enjoyed it xD)
4) Repo the Genetic Opera (credits to Marlowe)

That's all that comes to mind, atm. Like I said, haven't seen a superfantasticgreatle gendary movie since Gladiator. ;D
