Thnx, but do you necessarily have to complete Engl 1B03 to get the proper knowledge to do well in 1BB3?

No. The material in 1B03 and 1BB3 aren't completely related. There may be a few aspects that are, but you don't need to take one to do well in the other.

Did anyone take CMST 1A03 INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATION & MMEDIA 1B03 THE DIGITAL IMAGE? If you did, what did you think of the courses and the professors teaching them? Could you also tell me what exactly did you learn and do?

Bah.

Since they've re-organized the faculty of science courses, and now the Geo courses...I think what I said was incorrect!

Your best bet is to speak someone from the Geo department...they can let you know for sure!

Check out some of the discussion in the Humanities thread, and for CMST 1A03 check out my COURSE REVIEW here.

Hey.
I'm entering first year engineering in the fall. I also need some easy courses. I was thinking of taking a reliligious studies as an electives.
1B06, 1d06, 1e03, 1i03 and 1j03 are considerd complementary electives. Has anyone taken these courses, how much work do they require? And where can I find information regarding the full course descriptions?
Thanks

Check out the Department of Religious Studies website for course outlines here (2008//2009 outlines, though there's not much up at the moment) and here (2007/2008 outlines). See who the teachers are on the Master Timetable; if the prof is the same as the one who taught the course in 07/08, chances are they aren't changing the course completely, so you can know what to expect. If anything, you could always contact the prof.

And to those asking about Econ 1B03 and 1BB3, the first few chapters are similar but after that, they focus on two totally different aspects of the economy, with Micro focusing more on individual businesses/industries and Macro focusing on the whole economy.

Psych 1A03 & 1AA3 (pretty much the equivalent of 1XX3 and 1X03)
- 2 hours of tutorial/week, although you are responsible for watching 2 online lectures/week (usually 15-30 minutes) on your own time.
- in Psych 1A03, we had a big group project essay, and in 1AA3, we had four smaller one page group project papers. I can't say that this will be the same next year - first year Psych had a complete overhaul this year, and they might still be making changes.

Gerontology 1A03
- only 2 lectures/week, and no tutorials. You also need to complete either 10hrs of volunteer work with seniors over the course of the term, or attend an extra tutorial for 10 weeks.
- only one 5 page paper, a multiple choice midterm, and a multiple choice exam
*This was my elective, definitely the easiest course I took all year. It is the study of aging though, so that needs to interest you at least a little bit*

From courses that friends took this year, Comp Lit and English courses have a ton of reading and papers (but you probably could have figured that out haha), and Philosophy was quite difficult. Good luck choosing!
I am taking Gerontology 1A03 next year but you said that there are only 2 lectures/week but when I looked it up it gave me 3 lectures/week so I'm guessing it has changed just to let everyone know and would that mean anything else has changed about the course i.e. course content etc.

You'll have to check with the course administrators to see if it's changed for next year.
